Girls win Northern Cross Country team title

Ben Styles, the Harriers highest finisher in the under-17s race.

The Harriers' under-13 girls produced a great team performance to win the title at this year's Northern Cross Country Championships held at Berry Edge, Consett, County Durham.

First home for the club was Bryoney Pearce in 5th place, followed by Michelle Wiblin in 9th, Charlotte Barber 31st and Rebbeca Hetherington 52nd, giving the team a narrow victory of just 3 points over Liverpool. Also the under-15 girls performed well coming home 2nd in the team race with Jess Coulson finishing 4th, Leah Kay in 5th place, Lucy McLoughlin 21th and Sarah Kay 64th.

For the boys Ross Millington had a good run in the under-15s race to finish 3rd, with Steve Barber 86th, Stuart Cameron 94th, Adam Beardsell 132th, Phillip Nixon 136th and Liam Turnbull 168th the team finished 11th overall.

Ben Styles ran an excellent race in the under-17 boys' coming home in 18th place. Andy Nixon also did well in his first outing after an ankle injury to finish 57th and Jon Walch came 84th.

The under-13 boys' team all ran well in their first ever championship race with Harry Long 44th, Nathan Ludlain 69th, Sam Riley 103rd and David Johnson 113th, all gaining valuable experience.

Jenny Murray finished 34th in the Senior Womens race while in the under-17 girls' Claire McMurdock came 23rd and Rhea Fallows 36th.
